Coaches, fans, players...what basketball / leadership books that you've read would you recommend?
Here is a list of some of my favorites basketball books in no particular order:
1) Play Their Hearts Out (George Dohrman) - AMAZING / MUST READ! I bought a few copies for a few of my players to read! 2) The Hustle (Doug Merlino) - Seattle hoops history...great read 3) All of John Wooden's books: -My Personal Best -Game Plan For Life -An American Treasure -Wooden One-On-One -The Wisdom of Wooden -Wooden -Quotable Wooden -Pyramid Of Success 4) The Miracle Of St Anthony's (Adrian Wojnarowski) - WOW, great insight into a perennial champion. Playing for Coach Hurley would be tough 5) How Lucky You Can Be (Buster Olney) 6) Pistol (Mark Keiegel) 7) Rise of a Dynasty (Bill Reynolds) 8) Leading with the Heart (Coach K) 9) Undertakers Son (Digger Phelps) 10) Loose Balls (Terry Pluto) - About the ABA. 11) Can I Keep My Jersey (Paul Shirley) 12) The Assist (Niel Swidey) 13) West By West (Jerry West) 14) 40 Minutes of Hell (Rus Bradburd) 15) Beyond Basketball (Coach K)
A few non-basketball books I LOVE: 1) ANYTHING by Malcolm Gladwell: -Outliers (AMAZING BOOK...3 days! Yes, I know that = DORK!) -The Tipping Point -Blink -What The Dog Saw 2) The Greatest Generation (Tom Brokaw) 3) Anything John Maxwell: -Talent is Never Enough 4) Anything Dick Devenzio 5) My American Dream (Colin Powell) 6) Catch a Fire (Timothy White)
What's on deck: 1) Mindset (Carol Dweck) 2) Talent Code (Daniel Coyle)
